Plot
The Jackal is an elusive killer who earns his living by carrying out contract killings for the highest fees. Soon he meets a worthy rival in the face of a tenacious British scout, who tracks him down in an exciting cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “Day of the Jackal” was filmed in 1963 and included an attempt on the then president of France, Charles de Gaulle. A remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973). Espionage/spies/assassin movies have always been my absolute favorites, from my earliest memories of James Bond to Mission: Impossible and Jason Bourne, to films like Marksman, Day of the Jackal (original) and Jackal”, “Leon-professional”, and this list can be continued. It’s just another great series in a long list of great shows.
It definitely creates authenticity
With Eddie Redmayne at the helm, and he’s seriously phenomenal, this show is great. I’ve worked with guns most of my life, been around guns my whole life, and personally hold a firearms license – it’s easy to see that they’ve brought in subject matter experts and the military to consult on this show. which is damn nice to see. The entire cast seems to fit together pretty well… except one. I first saw Lashana Lynch in the last James Bond and, to be honest, I didn’t think her performance was anything special.
she just sucks
In fact, I thought she was terrible. Unlike previous actresses of color (if that was the intention), and let’s just start with that, she was far from the target compared to the refined Halle Berry or even the legendary Grace Jones. She felt wooden, flat, uninspiring, frankly useless and untalented. But I thought that maybe she just sucks in James Bond, “give her another chance.” But after 5 episodes… I don’t know what she did before she started filming, but maybe she wants to go back to it. I think the casting for Lashana Lynch was downright bad.
SHE IS FANTASTIC!!!
Personally, for me, Idris Elba would be a very good choice for the role of an MI6 agent. If you need a British woman of color, Christine Adams is great! Hell, what about Thandiwe Newton? So many great choices, and they chose a cardboard figure. If you can basically ignore the completely hopeless Lashana Lynch, then the show is great. It’s a shame it’s going to be a mini-series instead of a multi-season show, which would be something special.

I think Eddie Redmayne should seriously consider other espionage movies and TV series because it’s interesting to watch, and this show would get a 10/10 if it weren’t for the terrible casting of Lynch. The new season of Silo is one of the biggest premieres on television and streaming this month.
